THE "FRIENDS OF THE FESTIVAL YOUNG.EURO.CLASSIC" BRING NEW MOMENTUM ...
The association "Friends of the Festival young.euro.classic " might still be a fledgling association, but it is without any doubt full of youthful energy. It aims to give a still greater public profile to the civic commitment that has from the very beginning been the foundation for the festival. The goal is to win an even larger audience for the idea upon which young.euro.classic is based and which has ensured that each year the festival draws more and more enthusiastic music lovers into the Konzerthaus at the famous Gendarmenmarkt square in the heart of Berlin. The audience whose ear we are trying to win encompasses both the world of politics and the business community as well as those private individuals who recognise that the European House is a project that can only be realised by the inhabitants of the house themselves. The initiative is also designed to broaden the financial foundation of the festival in order to secure its future.
The president of the association, former German Interior Minister Otto Schily, has underlined the key role played by both music and young people: "Music and musical education help us to draw on our feelings and our spirit, our physical and intellectual capacities, all at the same time. Music makes all our senses more alert, more awake. Making music helps to build communities." Moreover, says Otto Schily, the very process of making music in an orchestra teaches each individual to listen and to respond – key steps in the development of the personality. We are very glad that Richard Gaul (Communications Consultant, Berlin) agreed to be Vice President of the Association. We are especially pleased that we also have been able to win the support of Prof. Frank Schneider, the General Director of the Konzerthaus, as the Honorary President of the Association. This represents a further expression of the extraordinarily harmonious cooperation that has existed between the Konzerthaus and young.euro.classic since the festival first began.
You too can help to build the European House by joining the "Friends of the young.euro.classic Festival".
